Vision

We envision a world where no one navigates healthcare alone. Our dream is to transform patient experiences globally—breaking down barriers, fostering trust, and creating a future where clarity, advocacy, and respect are the foundation of every health journey.

Who we are

We believe healthcare should empower, not overwhelm

At Leo, we’re driven by a simple truth:

Every person deserves a voice, an advocate, and the confidence to navigate their health journeyno matter who they are, where they come from, or what obstacles they face.

As an LGBTQ+, Disabled, and Middle Eastern-owned company, our story starts with listening.

We saw too many people walk away from appointments confused, unsupported, and alone. Families left searching for answers, hesitant to ask questions, or just wishing for someone in their corner.

That’s why we built Leo—a one-stop shop for patient advocacy powered by advanced AI and rooted in lived experience.

Leo is more than technology. It’s human. It’s the health companion we wish existed for every individual, especially those who’ve been overlooked or underserved by the system.

From real-time support and plain-language explanations to ongoing education and community, we stand by your side at every step.

With Leo, you’re never alone in the healthcare maze.

You have an advocate—honest, unbiased, and always available—helping you make sense of your medical journey and making sure your story is heard.

We’re on a mission to reimagine patient advocacy for all, starting with you.

What we stand for

Our AI Ethics Commitments: How Leo Keeps Healthcare Human

Our Promise: Leo exists to ensure that as AI transforms healthcare, it transforms it for you—not for hospitals, insurers, or pharmaceutical companies. These commitments aren't marketing language; they're the ethical foundation of everything we build.

Charlie Alfarah, MEd, CDP®
CEO

Charlie Alfarah is the founder of Leo, a pioneering AI patient advocacy platform, and a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) dedicated to transforming healthcare into a truly equitable and culturally responsive system. Charlie's commitment to health equity is rooted in both personal experience and professional expertise spanning health sciences, pharmaceutical operations, and organizational diversity leadership.

Charlie's journey into healthcare advocacy began in childhood when their father was diagnosed with chronic renal failure. As the family navigated a fragmented healthcare system, Charlie witnessed their mother shouldering the overwhelming burden of coordinating appointments, interpreting complex medical information, and managing insurance—often in a language that wasn't her first. By age nine or ten, Charlie began attending medical appointments to help translate doctor's instructions, ask critical questions, and bridge communication gaps. These formative experiences revealed a fundamental truth: without accessible advocacy and culturally aware support, the healthcare system isolates and fails the people it's meant to serve.

Charlie's formal training includes a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and hands-on experience working in pharmacy, providing direct insight into medication management and patient care. This clinical foundation, combined with their Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) credential and years of DEI leadership at organizations like Mediaocean and Walgreens, uniquely positions Charlie to address the systemic inequities embedded in healthcare delivery. Their expertise in organizational culture, mentorship program development, and creating inclusive environments directly informs Leo's design—ensuring the platform operates with sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds, language barriers, disability accommodations, and the unique needs of historically underserved communities.

Leo was born from Charlie's conviction that compassionate, culturally competent advocacy shouldn't be a privilege—it should be universal. The platform serves as an independent, always-accessible digital ally that empowers patients and caregivers to confidently navigate their health journeys. By automating care coordination, translating medical jargon into plain language, facilitating patient-provider communication, and providing support in multiple languages, Leo dismantles barriers rather than adding to them.

Charlie draws continuous inspiration from their family's resilience—particularly their parents' strength and hope in the face of systemic obstacles—and channels that into building a future where every person, regardless of background, language, ability, or circumstance, feels truly understood, supported, and empowered in their healthcare experience. Through Leo, Charlie is working to ensure that the next generation of patients won't have to navigate the system alone.
